Come and celebrate Climate Action Week at the Coal Loader!
Community members are invited to join our wonderful volunteer tour guides as they explore The Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability. Learn about the sites fascinating industrial history, the community activism that saw the site saved from development, and the adaptive reuse employed to create a space that exemplifies environmental and social sustainability. Hear about the Council's sustainable technology, such as our extensive solar network, our water saving systems including rain gardens and a man-made wetland, and our community initiatives such as our amazing community garden!
What to expect:
Meet your volunteer guide outside the Genia McCaffery Centre (aka The Cottage). Look out for the A-frame sign.
Tours last approximately 1 hour and are suitable for ages 12 to 112.
All physical abilities are welcome.
What to bring:Â BYO water bottle, a hat and wear sturdy walking shoes.
Cost: FREEÂ Bookings are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome.Â
Our lovely volunteers give up their own time to lead these tours so please do feel free to give them a round of applause at the end!
