    All are invited to join an accessible heritage tour of the Coal Loader in Waverton, accompanied by an Auslan interpreter. This event has been organised for International Day of People with Disability.

    Learn the fascinating history of this ex industrial and now state of the art Centre for Sustainability


    What to expect:

    The Saturday 7 December tour will be led by one of the Coal Loader’s volunteer tour guides, accompanied by an Auslan interpreter. Participants will learn about the fascinating history of this ex-industrial site and its transformation into a state-of-the-art sustainability centre. The entire tour is conducted on accessible pathways and will use the lift to the lower level to visit the tunnels. Limited accessible parking is available.

    Meet your volunteer guide outside the Genia McCaffery Centre (aka The Cottage). Look out for the A-frame sign.

    The tour will take approximately 90 minutes, including a screening of a short documentary about the history of the site and the local area.

    Absolutely all physical abilities are welcome, and tours are suitable for ages 12 to 112.

    What to bring: BYO water bottle, a hat and wear sturdy walking shoes.

    Cost: FREE  Bookings are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. 

    Our lovely volunteers give up their own time to lead these tours so please do feel free to give them a round of applause at the end!
