The Condensery Social | Traditional Weaving with Kahli Dawkings
Description
Join us at The Condensery Social to the learn basics of traditional weaving with Kahli Dawkings!
This hands-on workshop introduces participants to the fundamentals of traditional coil weaving and cordage using raffia. Participants will create a small woven pendant or key ring, exploring the techniques and processes involved in this traditional craft.
As participants begin their creations, a brief introduction will explore the significance of weaving for First Nations peoples, including an overview of the natural materials and resources traditionally used in weaving practices.
In the follow-up session, participants will have the opportunity to build on their skills by creating a matching pair of earrings using the same technique on a smaller scale, or by continuing their original piece to create a miniature basket.
