The continuing fight for abortion rights: Taking stock of the evidence
Event description
Please join The Institute of Global Health, The Global Studies Institute and the Institute of Demography and Socioeconomics (IDESO) at the University of Geneva and Sexual and Reproductive Health Matters (SRHM) for an engaging event this Human Rights Day, which serves as the launch of a Special Collection of the SRHM Journal on Abortion and where we will hear from esteemed human rights experts about the state of abortion rights globally and what evidence is needed for action to ensure access to safe abortion globally in this critical political moment.
We will hear from expert speakers about the current state of abortion rights and how to use rights- and evidence-based knowledge to advance access to safe abortion as a matter of sexual and reproductive justice and the respect, protection and fulfillment of fundamental human rights.
As the current climate sees a rise in anti-rights rhetoric and challenges to reproductive freedoms, Sexual and Reproductive Health Matters (SRHM) is responding with the launch of a Special Collection of the SRHM Journal on Abortion.
This collection will showcase over 30 articles from the SRHM Journal, ranging from women’s experiences, policies and politics of abortion, criminalization and legal matters, health systems and services, technological advances, the needs and rights of marginalized populations and emerging challenges. The collection also highlights the gaps in current evidence and calls for research, discussion and analysis. Â
SRHM has a longstanding dedication to the safe abortion movement, contributing to the creation and communication of rights-based research and evidence on abortion for over 30 years.
This will be an in-person event and will also be live-streamed and recorded. More information on how to join remotely will be given soon. If you are based in Geneva and would like to attend in-person, please contact info@srhm.org.Â
