Featuring Andrew Dickeson (drums), Hugh Barrett (piano) and Jacob Graham (bass), The Cookers is a jazz trio born from a shared love of the rich tradition of the modern jazz piano trio.
Andrew Dickeson is one of Australia's pre-eminent band leaders and drummers. Appearing on more than 100 recordings, he has performed with an impressive list of local and international artists including Johnny Griffin, Junior Cook, Lee Konitz, Eric Alexander, Jerry Weldon and Neal Caine.
Pianist Hugh Barrett has been a prominent figure on the Australian jazz scene for more than two decades. A 2018 Freedman Jazz Fellowship nominee and multiple Australian National Jazz Awards semi-finalist, he has shared the stage with acclaimed international artists including Chris Potter, Maria Schneider, Alex Sipiagin, Roger Manins and many others.
Bassist Jacob Graham is one of Sydney's most in-demand jazz musicians. Known for his impeccable time, deep swing and expressive playing, he brings energy and vitality to every performance.
The trio presents an exciting program spanning Great American Songbook standards, jazz classics by Cedar Walton, Mulgrew Miller and Wayne Shorter, alongside original compositions, celebrating the enduring spirit and creativity of modern jazz.
