The Countertenor - Bach's Holy Spirit (Brisbane)
Event description
Bach Akademie Australia with soloist Reginald Mobley
Madeleine Easton Artistic Director
According to theological tradition in Lutheran Germany, the alto voice was the very symbol of the Holy Ghost. Bach felt this deeply, thus reserving the alto voice for the most moving and special of arias in his passions and cantatas. Bach Akademie Australia is proud to present the internationally acclaimed Grammy-nominated American counter tenor Reginald Mobley in a program of Bach’s cantatas for the alto voice. Equally at home with gospel and jazz alongside music of the baroque period, Reginald’s purity of tone, clarity of articulation and deep personal connection to this music ensures an evening of sublime music making. Mobley performs arias and cantatas of solace and profundity, including Bach’s Agnus Dei from the Mass in B minor, alongside his instrumental works and Nations composer Troy Russell's “Clans", a response to the the Morning Star and commissioned by Bach Akademie Australia.
