The Crooked Jades @McCloud River Mountain Music

Event description

A San Francisco original, The Crooked Jades celebrate their 30 year anniversary with a very special show at McCloud River Mountain Music Series. Pioneers in bringing old-time music to contemporary audiences, The Crooked Jades continue to evolve their unique sound rooted in American traditional music, pushing boundaries and blurring genres. Their fiery and soulful live performances are full of unexpected sounds, blending the antique and the modern. Over three decades, the band has released 9 albums, including the recent and acclaimed Empathy Moves The Water. Their music has taken them to festivals and concerts throughout North America, Europe and the United Kingdom. The Jades have collaborated with contemporary dance choreographers, Kate Weare and San Francisco dance company ODC founder and artistic director Brenda Way; and are featured on film soundtracks including Sean Penn’s Oscar-nominated Into The Wild and the 2023 award-winning documentary Call Me Mule.
The core of The Crooked Jades are co-founders Jeff Kazor (vocals/guitar/ukulele), Lisa Berman (vocals/slide guitar/banjo/harmonium), and Erik Pearson (vocals/banjos/ukulele/harmonium/slide guitar.) Performing for this not-to-be-missed show are two sensational new band members. On fiddle is the phenomenal Amy Kassir hailing from Durham, North Carolina, who will be soon releasing her solo fiddle tune album Fall 2024. On bass is the multi-talented Arco bass player JZ (Joshua Zucker), who gives cinematic sensibility to the Jades’ sound. Video link featuring new band members Amy Kassir on fiddle and JZ on bass:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkVvEfM5bS8&t=11s
