The Cryptocurrency Metaverse: Webinar and Q&A
Event description
The Cryptocurrency Metaverse: The future of everything or a cyber wasteland?
Bringing a critical eye to the industry after five years working in financial technology startups Andrew Gillick debunks for business owners what exactly the crypto ‘Metaverse’ is and isn’t.
With household brands like Nike and Facebook now creating NFTs, crypto has proven a powerful tool for network-marketing and branding. Now any person or organisation is able to create their own version of ‘digital currency’ for a small sum and the future of money could get very weird.
Rather than putting your head in the sand, this session is to provoke you to think about the possible effects of all this on your business and industry and to consider actions to prepare and position for it.
Key focus points:
- Decoding the Crypto jargon
- Into the metaverse
- WTF are NFTs?
- The creator economy
- Decentralised finance
- Decentralised Organisations
Following Andrew's presentation, there will be a Q&A session which is open to all attendees.Â
Speaker: Andrew Gillick
Andrew Gillick specialises in writing software documentation for financial technology and cryptocurrency companies.
He was formerly the research director for a cryptocurrency market data company and led an economic analysis working group for the Washington DC non-profit Government Blockchain Association. His research on the future of money and governance has been published by global business intelligence outlets.Â
Andrew is a recovering journalist and in another life was an editor for New Zealand Herald Business.Â
He’s passionate about the future of money and closing the technology and data gap between SMEs and e-commerce giants which has been amplified since C-19. His vision is a strong backbone of independent SMEs collaborating using new tools rather than a monoculture of megastores in towns and cities.
Andrew doesn’t advocate crypto or any technology (highly critical) but through Future Perspectives educates SMEs on what’s happening at the frontier of finance and the future opportunities available to reduce middlemen and transaction fees.Â
