The Curious Mum: A Baby Friendly Books & Ideas Circle

Have you ever wished there was a space where you could reconnect with the part of yourself that existed before motherhood?

I created The Curious Mum after searching for a community where I could discuss books, explore new ideas, embrace creativity and connect with like-minded mums - all while bringing my baby along. When I couldn’t find it, I decided to create it.

This is a relaxed, baby-friendly gathering for mums with babies and young toddlers (approximately 0-3 years of age) who enjoy meaningful conversation and lifelong learning.

Mums to be welcome too!

Each month we’ll explore one accessible non-fiction book as a starting point for discussion.

👶Babies Welcome 

We’ll explore topics including psychology, science, history, philosophy, creativity, relationships, society, money, health and more in future sessions! 

October’s Book: The Comfort Crisis by Michael Easter

Theme: An exploration of how modern comfort shapes our bodies, minds and lives — and whether deliberately embracing challenge, discomfort and uncertainty can help us live more fully.

You don’t need to finish the book to attend. Even reading a chapter or listening to part of the audiobook is enough to join the conversation.

Location: We’ll be meeting at Queen’s Park Kitchen (Cafe) Outdoor Area located in Queens Park in Randwick.

Please bring:

• A picnic rug or blanket

• Anything you or your baby may need during the morning (snacks, milk, toys, nappies, etc.)

• Your book (optional!)

• A coffee / snack can be purchased at the cafe if you wish

☂️We’ll either sit in the outdoor area under the umbrellas of Queens Park Kitchen Cafe or on the grass next to the cafe depending on the weather.

• This is a relaxed, community-led gathering rather than a facilitated workshop or lecture.

• Please supervise your own child at all times. Every parent remains responsible for the care and safety of their little one throughout the event.

• Babies may feed, sleep, play, cry or need changing during our discussion—that’s all part of the experience.

• Please be mindful of others and help us create a welcoming, respectful environment for everyone.

• If your plans change, I’d really appreciate you cancelling your registration so another mum can attend.
