The Dangerous Old Woman: Reclaiming Our Fierce Elder Wisdom with Shushann (online)
Description
What if becoming older is not about becoming quieter, smaller or less visible — but about becoming more fully ourselves?
Inspired by the work of Clarissa Pinkola Estés, The Dangerous Old Woman represents the wise, instinctive and fiercely authentic elder within us — the woman who has lived, loved, lost, learned, and no longer needs to abandon herself to please others.
One of her powerful gifts is the invitation for us to inhabit our being-vitality. To consider the possibility that growing within this outer shell of a body—which is fading—is an inner energy that is timeless. Our being-vitality comes from deeper inside you, your inner glow which is entirely the fruit of your inner work. It is a light that never fades with time.
In this presentation, we explore how befriending our own Dangerous Old Woman can support the journey of Conscious Aging and eldership in our lives. She invites us to trust our inner knowing, speak our truth, establish healthy boundaries, let go of roles that no longer serve us, and transform our life experience into wisdom.
She is “dangerous” not because she causes harm, but because she is no longer willing to betray who she is.
La Loba and Kali may prompt us to ask in our lives: “As I grow older, what part of myself may be asking to be gathered up, reclaimed and brought back to life?”
I invite you to join me for this presentation as we meet the Dangerous Old Woman within and explore what she has to teach us about aging with courage, authenticity, wisdom and a little healthy irreverence.
