Event description

Join some of Australia’s best documentary editors in the Dark Room for a weekend of great films.

If you’ve ever wondered why a film made you laugh, cry or outraged this is for you.

SATURDAY 1ST NOVEMBER

10am: Dale Frank: Nobody’s Sweetie | Q&A with Editor/Director/Producer Jenny Hicks

Dale Frank: A relentless creative force, internationally renowned Australian Artist, Dale Frank, has earned a reputation as a trail blazer in contemporary art. Documented for the first time, we are afforded a rare behind-the-scenes look into the life and work of Australia’s most eccentric and reclusive artist as he grapples with an ambitious exhibition deadline and the challenges of a debilitating illness

1:30 pm: End of The Rainbow | Q&A with Editor Andrea Lang ASE

Millenia of gold mining tradition is upended when a multinational company drops its mine into a West African village. The military lend a hand in the heist in a beautiful, absurd and ultimately savage meditation on hope and opportunity.

4pm: *Starting at the Memorial Hall, join the Taranta Festival Choir walk thru town and get your inner Bello hippie vibe ready for Aquarius...up next!

6:30 Aquarius | Q&A with Editor/Writer Karin Raven Steininger ASE

Celebrating the dawning of the Aquarius Festival in Nimbin 1973 – an alternative gathering embraced by activists, hippies, and radicals that changed a town (and a generation) forever.

SUNDAY 2ND NOVEMBER

10am: Dark Science | Q&A with Editor Jane St Vincent Welch ASE

1910 Swedish scientist, Eric Mjoberg, led an expedition to Australia. DARK SCIENCE travels in Mjoberg's footsteps to visit the communities he robbed, and gives a contemporary Indigenous perspective for return of the remains and artifacts.

1:30 pm: The Final Quarter | Q&A with Editor Sally Fryer ASE

Adam Goodes was a champion AFL footballer and Indigenous leader.

In the final three years of his playing career he became a lightning rod for a heated public debate and widespread media commentary that divided the nation.

4.30pm: ITHAKA | Q&A with Editor Karen Johnson

Ithaka shines a light into the darkest corners of society, highlighting what the most powerful nations will do in order to hide their crimes. Stand up for global press freedom and your right to know as we fight for Julian Assange.
