FAQs

  • Where exactly is the show?

Our venue is The Griffin, which is on 266 Bath Street in Glasgow, directly opposite the King's Theatre.

The show itself will be inside the Function Room at the back of the venue. If you have never been to the Griffin before, the incredibly helpful and friendly staff will be able to direct you to it if you ask

  • Where are the accessible entrances?

The Griffin has 2 wheelchair accessible entrances, both via Embank Street.

The first is a ramped entrance into the back of the function room where the comedy show will be taking place.

The second is just a few feet down the street into the restaurant area of the venue. It's in this section that you can also find the accessible toilet at ramp towards the function room at the back.

Please contact hello@thegriffinglasgow.co.uk if you have any specific accessibility needs or requests

  • What time do Doors Open?

Doors open at 20:00 for audience to enter the function room and take their seats.
Show time begins promptly at 20:30, so make sure you are sat down with a drink beforehand

  • Is there any support available in case the show is too loud for me?

Yes! We always have on hand a spare set of sound-isolating headphones which we are happy to lend out to audience members who find the audio to be too loud. Although we always try to keep the volume of the microphone relatively low, we understand and anticipate that not everyone has the same sensitivity to noise and we'll always try to accommodate where we can.

The function room itself is fairly long and we encourage audience members to sit further back in the room if they find it more comfortable in regards to noise level

  • Do you have stim toys available?

Yes! We always have a box of free stim toys that we offer audience members to take when they come in. Whether it's to help reduce self-stimulating behaviour, to help de-stress, or just because it's fun, our stim/fidget toys are available for everyone

Lineup

  • Kat Powell

    Kat Powell

Kat Powell is unpredictable. An aging West Coast Kid sharing tales of nostalgia, romance, and embarrassment. Kat roasts everyone she loves - but most importantly, herself

  • Ruth Hunter

    Ruth Hunter

Ruth is an Irish actor & stand-up comedian and a recent regional finalist of the prestigious BBC New Comedy Award. Ruth is regular support for Fern Brady, Alison Spittle, Helen Bauer and Kiri Pritchard-McLean. First runner up in the ‘So You Think You’re Funny’ award and recipient of the Luke Rollason Memorial Bursary, Ruth’s acclaim knows no bounds

  • Matthew Hayhow

    Matthew Hayhow

Disabled people are often seen as brave, inspirational role models. Matthew Hayhow is on a one-man mission to put a stop to that. Since rolling onto the comedy scene, Matthew has taken his unique perspectives and a mixture of sharp and vulgar material to the Edinburgh Fringe, GICF, Rosie Jones’ Disability Comedy Extravaganza on U&Laughs, and The Afternoon Show on BBC Radio Scotland, and has supported James Gardner.

  • Jack Brookmyre

    Jack Brookmyre

Jack Brookmyre, Scottish comedy’s up-and-coming impressionist, known for his impeccable accents and voices, as well as his blend of absurd and observational comedy. Jack quickly made an impression on the Glasgow circuit, winning the 2022 GICF Student Comedy Award. Since then, he has made frequent weekend appearances at The Stand in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Newcastle, performed at several weekends at The Glee and has won Just One More Gong in Glasgow, Beat the Blackout in London and Beat the Frog in Manchester. He was also part of the lineup for The Stand Glasgow’s 2025/26 Hogmanay shows. Jack was the voice of Trump, Attenborough, Keir Starmer and many others on Noising Up on BBC Radio Scotland. He was also shortlisted for the 2024 and 2025 BBC New Comedy Awards. Jack’s 2026 Fringe show Impressionable, was funded by The Stand comedy club to showcase upcoming Scottish talent. The show was longlisted for the ISH Best Newcomer and The List’s Best Comedy Show. Jack’s mimicry knows no bounds as his quick wit flows from town planning to the history of populism in performances that showcase the damage that undergraduate philosophy and Death Metal can do to the human brain. “pitch-perfect impressions and storytelling” – One4Review “A Thrash Metal Rory Bremner whose dark political comedy makes my heart sing” – Christopher Macarthur-Boyd “Instantly endearing” – The List “a gloriously visceral standup” – Fest Mag

  • Lubna Kerr

    Lubna Kerr

Scottish-Pakistani comedian Lubna Kerr takes audiences on a hilarious journey through identity, culture, family and the absurdities of everyday life. With her sharp Scottish wit, cheeky observations and fearless storytelling, Lubna explores what it means to belong when everyone wants to know where you're really, really from. Funny, mischievous and sometimes outrageous, Lost in Translation – Again! proves that growing older doesn't mean behaving yourself!
