The Drowsy Chaperone
Event description
Please note that the performance on Saturday 30 July at 1.00pm is an understudy matinee performance.
The Drowsy Chaperone is a parody of American musical culture of the 1920s. The story concerns a socially awkward, middle aged musical theatre fan as he plays the record of his favourite musical, the fictional 1928 hit The Drowsy Chaperone.
The show comes to life in his own apartment as he astutely commentates on the show, providing a satirist point of view on shifting cultural values of the past century.
Having been nominated for multiple international awards, “The Drowsy Chaperone” won five Tony Awards and seven Drama Desk awards. The show has had major productions in Toronto, Los Angeles, New York, London, Melbourne and Japan.
Please note this production is recommended for ages 10+.
Due to the rise of COVID-19 in our community, we strongly encourage guests to wear a mask throughout the performance and while indoors.
