Event description

We cordially invite you, a friend of Dorothy, to ‘The Emerald Ball’.

Join us for a night of fun, frivolity and friendship, as we celebrate 20 years of Goulburn Valley Pride.

“Home is a place we all must find, child. It’s not just a place where you eat or sleep. Home is knowing. Knowing your mind, knowing your heart, knowing your courage. If we know ourselves, we’re always home, anywhere.” – Lena Horne as Glinda the Good in The Wiz (1978)

‘The Emerald Ball’ theme acknowledges the contributions The Wizard of Oz, Wicked and The Wiz have had on LGBTIQA+ culture, while speaking to the experiences of being regionally queer in seeking a place or people to call home.

Everyone deserves the chance to fly.

We know the cost of living is impacting our most vulnerable. Many do not have extra dollars to spend on social events, which has a significant impact on overall health and wellbeing. If you’re able to do so, please consider making a donation to provide another person with an experience they’ll never forget. All donations received will be reserved to fund the ticket cost to members of marginalized communities (i.e. First Nations mob, trans and gender diverse people, disabled people/people living with a disability/neurodivergent community members, young people between the ages of 18yrs - 25yrs, Silver Rainbows/ageing people 55yrs+).

A donation of $100 provides one person with a free ticket, covered by the generosity of community. Other optional donation amounts are available (i.e. $20, $50, $100, another amount).

Goulburn Valley Pride Inc is a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not for Profits commission. In addition, we are a registered deductible gift recipient which means that your donations are tax-deductible.

This event takes place on the lands of the Yorta Yorta people. Goulburn Valley Pride acknowledge the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land on which we live, work and play, the eight clans of the Yorta Yorta Nation. We also pay our respects to their Elders past and present. On the land of the Goulburn Valley, sovereignty was never ceded.
