Event description

Justice for Palestine, in collaboration with Te Tira Ahu Pae and Student Justice for Palestine (SJP) Pōneke invite you to the Pōneke screening of The Encampments. This documentary follows last year's Gaza Solidarity Encampment at Columbia University, an action that led to the detention of activist Mahmoud Khalil and continues to impact American and international politics.

The screening is happening in a context where students internationally are protesting against the complicity of academic institutions in the ongoing genocide of Palestinians. Locally, SJP Pōneke successfully spearheaded a BDS motion at Victoria University of Wellington last month.

The film will be introduced by speakers from SJP and funds will go to Team Assal.

Timing for the evening:

  • From 5.30pm - arrive at the Massey University Cinema

  • 6.00pm - introductory speeches

  • 6.15pm - film begins

  • 7.45pm - event ends
