We all want to be happy. Most of us wish happiness not just for ourselves but also for the people we love – and even our pets! But what exactly is it that we all want? Is it to feel joy or tranquillity? To be deeply satisfied? Or to obtain certain objective goods?
In The Ethics of Happiness, philosopher Dr Caroline West questions whether happiness is even a single, unified thing, and asks whether a happy life is necessarily a good life. If we cannot agree on what happiness actually means, what are we really aiming for when we say we want it?

- What is 'The Ethics Of...' event series?
‘The Ethics of…’ is an event series where we freely examine the experiences, hopes and challenges that make us truly human; from the good to the bad and everything in between. Each event is an intimate conversation, led by a philosopher, with opportunities for the audience to share their experiences, views and learn from each other. Join us for this important and interactive event, held both in person and livestreamed, about the ways we connect with each other.
- Do you offer any discounted tickets?
For our in-person events, we offer discounted tickets for individual sessions to concession card holders & seniors, and youth (30 years and under).
Tickets for our online/livestream events are the same price for all attendees, and are offered at a significantly discounted price compared to in-person tickets.
If you'd like to attend all three events, you can book a Multipack over 20% off full-price tickets. Multipacks are $99 in-person, or $39 livestream.
- Do I have to attend all three sessions?
You are welcome to attend as few or as many sessions as you like. Tickets can be purchased for any individual session, alternatively, you can save with a Multipack and see all 3 sessions as a trilogy.

- Where will the in-person events take place?
The in-person events will take place at The Ethics Centre, in Sydney NSW. Please note that there are limited seats available.
- How do I access the livestream?
Ticketholders will receive a unique link to access the livestream. This access link will be displayed on your digital ticket, which you can also access via your booking confirmation email.
- Can I watch the event on-demand after it's finished?
An on-demand recording of each session will be available for up to 14 days post-event, via the same link which is used to access livestream.
All ticketholders (both in-person and livestream) can access the on-demand recording.
- Can I access the livestream if I'm no longer able to attend the event in-person?
All in-person tickets include access to the livestream, in case your plans change.
Ticketholders will receive a unique link to access the livestream. This access link will be displayed on your digital ticket, which you can also access via your booking confirmation email.
After the event has finished, you will also be able to access an on-demand recording via the same link. Please note that the on-demand recording will only be available for up to 14 days post-event.
