The Exhale: An Evening of Co-Regulation With Horses
Description
You don’t have to carry it all.
Sometimes what we need is not another strategy, another task, another conversation, or another person asking us to explain how we feel.
Sometimes we need space.
Fresh air. Quiet. The steady presence of horses. A place where we do not have to perform, produce, fix anything, or hold everything together for everyone else.
The Exhale is an intimate evening of co-regulation, connection, and intentional presence with horses.
Held outside beneath the wide Arizona sky, this Sacred Dirt Experience invites you to step away from the noise of daily life, slow down enough to hear yourself again, and allow your nervous system to settle into the rhythm of the land and the herd.
You do not need to arrive calm.
You do not need to be good with horses.
You do not need to know exactly what you are carrying or have the perfect words to describe it.
You simply get to arrive as you are.
What is co-regulation with horses?
Horses are deeply aware, relational animals. They communicate through movement, energy, posture, breath, boundaries, attention, and nervous-system cues that often happen beneath the level of words.
During The Exhale, you will be invited to observe the horses, notice your own body, and experiment with slowing down in their presence. Their honesty, sensitivity, and groundedness can help us become more aware of when we are bracing, overthinking, disconnecting, rushing, or carrying more than belongs to us.
There will be guidance, but there will also be room.
Room to breathe.
Room to notice.
Room to connect without pressure.
Room to let something soften.
Your evening may include:
A gentle arrival and grounding practice
An introduction to the herd and the ways horses communicate
Guided nervous-system and co-regulation exercises
Quiet observation and intentional time near the horses
Opportunities for connection based on your own comfort and consent
Reflection, integration, and a peaceful closing as the evening settles
Every gathering is shaped by the people, the horses, the weather, and what is naturally present that evening. We will not force a predetermined experience. We will create the conditions for connection and allow the evening to unfold from there.
This experience may be for you if:
You have been carrying too much for too long.
You spend much of your life taking care of other people, solving problems, staying productive, or holding everything together.
You have been feeling overstimulated, emotionally tired, disconnected from yourself, or simply hungry for more space and quiet.
You want to reconnect with your body and your own inner knowing without having to sit in a room and analyze every part of yourself.
Or perhaps nothing is terribly wrong.
Perhaps you simply want two beautiful hours with horses, nature, and people who understand that rest and reconnection do not have to be earned.
That is reason enough.
No horse experience is needed.
This is a ground-based experience, and there will be no riding.
You will never be required to touch, approach, or interact directly with a horse. Observation is participation. Choice is central to the experience, and you will be encouraged to honor your own boundaries throughout the evening.
There is also no expectation that you share private experiences, speak in front of the group, or be emotionally vulnerable on command.
You are allowed to be quiet.
You are allowed to take your time.
You are allowed to receive the experience in the way that feels right for you.
What to wear and bring
Please wear comfortable clothing that can handle a little dust, dirt, horse hair, or weather. Closed-toe shoes are required around the horses.
Because temperatures can change quickly in the high desert, layers are strongly encouraged.
Please bring:
Water
A jacket or warm layer
Sun protection when appropriate
A journal, if you enjoy writing
Anything else that helps you feel physically comfortable outdoors
Location
The Exhale takes place on private property in the White Mountains of Arizona, near Show Low and White Mountain Lakes.
The exact address, directions, parking information, and arrival instructions will be emailed to registered participants before the event.
Please be aware that the experience takes place outdoors on natural, uneven ground. Contact Megan before registering if you have mobility or accessibility concerns so that we can discuss whether the setting will comfortably support your needs.
Following the rhythm of the land
Because The Exhale follows the rhythm of the land, start times shift slightly throughout the season to allow us to work safely with the horses and close near sunset.
Please carefully review the start and end time for the specific date you select.
Events may be postponed or rescheduled when weather, smoke, unsafe footing, or other conditions would interfere with the safety and quality of the experience.
A Sacred Dirt Experience
The Exhale is part of Sacred Dirt Experiences, a collection of immersive gatherings created by Megan Rachelle to help people slow down, reconnect with themselves, and experience healing, clarity, and belonging through horses, nature, embodiment, honest reflection, and intentional space.
Facilitated by Megan Rachelle
Megan brings extensive education and experience in trauma-informed care, nervous-system regulation, holistic healing, human behavior, and equine connection. Her work creates spaces where people can stop performing, hear themselves again, and reconnect with the parts of themselves that have been buried beneath responsibility, survival, and expectation.
Your place is waiting.
Space is intentionally limited to preserve the quiet, personal nature of the experience.
Your reservation is official once registration and payment are completed.
Come as you are.
You do not have to fix everything before you arrive.
You do not have to carry it all while you are here.
You belong here.
