The Expanded Voice: Experimental Sound Showcase

Join PSpace and some of the country’s most exciting experimental sound artists to experience vocal performances that penetrate into spaces as yet unknown. 

Presented by PSpace and in its inaugural year, The Expanded Voice: Experimental Sound Showcase is the culmination of the Experimental Sound Program (ESP), a brand-new artist development program rooted in artistic discourse and our commitment to supporting communities of experimental practice. 

In 2026, the program is curated by artist Frances Barrett and focuses on artists working at the intersection of performance and the voice. Titled 'The Expanded Voice', this inaugural program has invited artists; Archie Barry, Brian Fuata, Jane Sheldon, Joel Stern, Nicole Smede, Sage Pbbbt, Mara Schwerdtfeger and Sonya Holowell to contribute to 1-week lab environment, and undertake a process  of exchange and new work development with each other and audiences. 

This relaxed showcase will feature the program's participating artists, offering a suite of performances that centre the unique ways in which they each work with the voice.

Artistic Director Kate Britton says; 'In an era of ever-increasing noise and seemingly diminishing capacity to listen, this work feels timely and political.'
