MEET OUR SPECIAL GUESTS:

Anna Meares OAM,
GM Commonwealth Games Australia, Author, Philanthropist, Commentator

Legendary athlete Anna Meares has fearlessly created her own path in a male-dominated sport, winning 6xOlympic medals, 11xWorld Championships and 5xCommonwealth Games titles for Track Cycling. She is an inspirational leader whose passion, dedication and grit have been the foundations of her incredibly successful career. However, her journey has been anything but smooth-sailing.

In the lead-up to the Beijing Olympics, Anna was involved in a horrific cycling accident that almost shattered her Olympic dreams and took her life. Her injuries left her mentally and physically debilitated, and she had to endure months of gruelling rehabilitation. She went on to win an Olympic Silver just 7 months later.

Anna is an inspiration to all women and a testament to the endless possibilities women can achieve through strength and resilience. Her achievements have been recognised in the SA Sport Hall of fame, where she is the youngest athlete to achieve 'Legend' status.

And then....

After hearing from Anna, we are being joined by Dr Jodi  Steel, an incredible Coach who specialises in working with women in STEM. We're going to talk about understanding power dynamics, healing from negative experiences and stepping into leadership.

Jodi's background is impressive, from early on with studies in communications and engineering, a PhD and graduating as the first female dux of RAAF Engineering and the first in the Communications/Electronics discipline. Then later, several years with NICTA and Data 61 where she blazed many trails in order to solve complex and strategic problems.

Jodi uses her extensive experience working as a minority by gender at work, along with expertise in coaching to help women in STEM careers achieve clarity, understand impact vs intention and how to "step into" their power.

BOOK GIVEAWAY

Our book giveaway for this month is Now by Anna Meares. Now is one of The F Factor featured books in our Book Club.

"Sometimes the end of the race is only the beginning."

There was no playbook, no training regime ... how to cope? This was a bigger mountain than any she had previously faced. Anna Meares now, powering on in a new career, happy in her personal life and expecting her first child, and much wiser for all she has experienced is an inspiring figure. Her twin stories, a winner on and off the track, make for one of the most important books ever written by an elite Olympic athlete.
