The First Wave, a film by Rising Tide

Watch Rising Tide’s very first short film, and meet some of the locals who attended the 2023 People’s Blockade of the world’s largest coal port in Newcastle. 

At the end of the hottest year in history in 2023, a Rising Tide of everyday people shut down the Newcastle Coal Export Facility, the World’s Largest Coal Port for 32 hours. Revisit the epic People’s Blockade with footage from the beach, the water, and the sky. 

Join with like-minded local community members to learn how you can get involved in this diverse movement.

This event will be held on Boonwurrung Country, and we pay our respects to Indigenous people across Australia, whose struggle for justice remains integrally tied to land rights and environmental protection.
