Description

Our wonderful volunteers will try to fix anything you can carry in - please check the list below. Sit with them and learn as they try to repair your item - free of charge!.

Northern Beaches Council generously supports The Sydney Library of Things Inc. to operate The Fixery. You must be a resident in the Northern Beaches Council LGA to use this service - you'll be asked to show proof of residency.

PLEASE NOTE: All items must be clean. We can't sharpen saws or serrated knives or weld and we don't repair underwear, bicycles, watches, cameras, computers, televisions, microwaves, electronics or any device that stores data.

To ensure we can provide the best service and experience for all, it’s essential to book your 30 minute repair session in advance. We can repair one item per time slot. To help make sure everyone has a chance to book, we kindly ask that you limit your booking to two timeslots per family - at different times.

If a specialised part is needed to complete your repair, please bring it along with you OR our team will suggest where you can purchase it and you can book in to have the repair finalised next month.

WHAT WE FIX:

Furniture/Miscellaneous: chairs, shoes, toys - we'll try to fix any small item you can carry in (not jewellery or knives/tools - see separate timeslots below).

Clothing repair (machine): minor tears, elastic, seams etc. Not hems on new clothing or zips in anything.

Hand sewing: mending tears in clothes, jumpers etc.

Electrical (small appliances): toasters, lamps, coffee machines, blenders etc.

Knife/tool sharpening: when we have timeslots we can repair knives (not serrated), secateurs, garden shears etc.

Jewellery: when we have timeslots for jewellery we can repair costume jewellery only.

The Fixery is a free community initiative run by volunteers. We do our best to help people repair items and learn new skills. Because repairs are provided without charge, and often by non‑professionals we are not liable for any loss or damage resulting directly or indirectly from instructions, repairs, or suggestions given or acts done or not done in relation to the items you have brought to The Fixery.

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ
