Event description

Join us to hear firsthand from the masterminds behind the most iconic prank in the University of Adelaide's history — a stunt shrouded in mystery for over 50 years.

Date:
Thursday, 3 April 2025

Time: 5:00pm for a 5:30pm start - 7:00pm

Location: Taikunthi, Level 5, Union House, North Terrace Campus

In a recent Lumen exclusive, we revealed the identities of the engineering students who pulled off Adelaide’s most famous prank more than 50 years ago.

Now, you have a chance to hear from them as they tell their story publicly for the first time.

University alum and noted media identity David Penberthy has kindly agreed to interview some of the ringleaders in a one-off Union House event.

Hear how they planned the stunt, what happened on that night in 1971 – and how they got away with it.

Limited to 100 people, the event will be held in the newly created University restaurant Taikunthi. Stroll out onto the balcony and you can see the “scene of the crime” where the FJ hung from the Uni footbridge.

Lucky guests will be provided with a complimentary drink and finger food from this wonderful new venue on the 5th floor of the beautifully refurbished Union House.

Refresh your memory of this incredible story by reading the Lumen article here.

Don’t miss this chance to meet the people behind this iconic Adelaide image!
