About the Tour: This is the perfect time to explore The Food Forest with all the fruit trees flourishing. You'll enjoy a guided tour along the Gawler River, learning about the restoration of local wildlife and ecosystems and experiencing an organic, sustainable farm. Learn how an ordinary family, with a typical Australian income, can create a diverse and productive landscape, filled with native plants and animals, while using eco-friendly farming and building practices.

About the Bus: We’ll be traveling by community bus, departing from the Port Environment Centre at 9am and returning by 2pm.

Bookings are essential, with a $10 fee per person, covering both the bus and the tour. We understand that it is a challenging time, so please contact us if you need a free spot.
Places are limited, so if you can’t attend, please let us know as soon as possible.

While the event is primarily for adults, families are welcome. Please note that children need a ticket and must be accompanied by a guardian at all times.

What is a FOOD FOREST?

“Food forests,” also called “forest gardens” or “edible forests,” is shorthand for the practice of cultivating forest ecosystems for human food production in harmony with nature. This can mean adding layers of edible plants to an existing forest or creating new, forest-like environments to boost biodiversity, efficiency, and sustainability in food production.
