Event description

We know what’s having the most positive impact on women’s careers into leadership. Now hear from the experts making it happen.

Join us for a deep dive into Dr Amanda Sterling's latest research - the Women in Leadership: Insights to Action report

Hear from industry experts - Dr Ellen Joan Ford, Emma Mclean (Works for Everyone), Joe Consedine (Mobilise), and Jayne Chater on the practical actions organisations can take to amplify the Four Factors having the most significant positive difference on women’s careers into leadership - Manager Support; Partner Support; Leadership Development, and Flexible Work.

This is a series of short / sharp micro-presentations - each presenter has 10 mins (+5 mins Q&A).

Led by experts on these topics, we'll explore:

  • What the main challenges are in implementing each of the Four Factors.

  • Specific examples of what's working really well in organisations right now.

  • The practical insights and actions you can take back to your context.

  • How to amplify these approaches in your organisation.

This isn't about theory or best practice frameworks (although we'll touch on those). It's about understanding what successful implementation looks like, what's enabling it, and how you can apply these insights in your people and culture work.

This is for people and culture, HR, OD, L&D, and leadership development professionals who want practical guidance on improving systems that support women's advancement into leadership.

You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions plus a breakout session to connect with peers, share challenges, and develop your implementation roadmap.

It’s going to be packed full of insights, actions you can take away and apply, as well as connections with organisations on a similar journey.

As our expert speakers, we’re really pleased to introduce:

Joe Consedine (Mobilise) on developing male capabilities for allyship and enhancing manager support.

Joe is a former Director of Champions for Change with Global Women where he worked with New Zealand’s leading 80 Chief Executives and Board Chairs on scaled Diversity Equity and Inclusion strategies for Aotearoa, New Zealand.

Prior to Champions for Change Joe was the New Zealand General Manger for Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand where he led the development of the accounting profession’s first ever inclusion strategy, developed a playbook on the gender pay gap with a reach of over 850k and was recognised by the NZ Minister for Women.

Joe is the co-founder of Mobilise – a groundbreaking leadership development and allyship program specifically for men and is currently the Head of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at ANZ.

Dr Ellen Joan Ford on outputs and flexibility to improve Belonging, Autonomy and Purpose.

Dr Ellen Joan Ford is terrifyingly ambitious about improving the working world for people and for organisations.

As a leader, researcher, military veteran, international speaker, TEDx speaker, facilitator, consultant and parent, Ellen draws on her research and practical experiences to drive organisational outcomes such as improved retention, productivity, engagement, well-being and ultimately, profit, by enhancing inclusive leadership capabilities and workplace culture. Her keynotes and workshops are full of practical takeaways.

Ellen was awarded the Kiwi Bank New Zealander of the Year - Local Hero, Person of the Year - Manawatu Standard and the prestigious Sir Peter Blake Leadership Award. She is the author of #WorkSchoolHours (endorsed by CEOs of KiwiBank, FMG, DevryBV and Cliftons, and dubbed a “must-read for any leader building a modern workplace”) and her leadership model is Belonging, Autonomy and Purpose.

Ellen is passionate, authentic and speaks from the heart with warmth, enthusiasm, bubbliness and fun.

Emma Mclean on increasing partner support for women's careers into leadership.

Emma Mclean is a mum of three and founder of Works for Everyone, a professional development business that partners with NZ's leading corporates to help them retain and grow their working parent talent. She does this through innovative leadership programmes, executive coaching and keynote speaking. She founded her business in 2019 following a 20-year career in corporate strategy where she experienced first-hand how hard it was to have a career and a family.

As an impatient optimist when it comes to system change, she launched her successful podcast “How to Smash the Motherhood Penalty” in 2023 where she talks to humans who are actively working to change the system that creates financial penalties that only mothers pay. And in 2024 she launched the first NZ Part Time Power List to shine a light on those senior roles in NZ that are career building, not side stepping.

Jayne Chater on leadership development for women that encompasses all aspects of their lives.

Jayne Chater is a leadership coach, speaker and facilitator who helps ambitious working mothers cut through the overwhelm and design careers and lives that truly fit. She creates spaces where women can reconnect with their strengths, reset their energy, and step into leadership with clarity and confidence.

Jayne’s work blends practical tools with deep reflection, supporting women to integrate the demands of work and life while building careers that feel sustainable and fulfilling. Her mission is to help women self-actualise — not just in their roles, but in the way they live, lead, and thrive.
