Session 1 | The Art of the Deal: Tips for negotiating a property settlement and avoiding the Family Court | Rishi Wijay

Fast and fair – that is the desired outcome for every client who finds themselves in property settlement negotiations. This session will help you support your clients towards that desired outcome.

Rishi Wijay | LLB, BCom
Rishi is the Managing Director of Klimek & Wijay Family Lawyers. His role involves oversight of complex financial matters, and he routinely acts for high-net-worth individuals.

Session 2 | Succession Stories: Reaping what you sow | Stephanie Smith

This session dives into real-life outcomes of succession planning, highlighting key lessons and practical insights to help clients have more effective conversations. You’ll leave with practical tools and fresh perspectives to help clients make informed, future-focused succession decisions.

Stephanie Smith| LLB, BCom
Stephanie is an Associate Director at Birchstone Legal Group. Stephanie specialises in estate planning, and its necessary companion, succession.

Having grown up in a farming family, Stephanie holds a special interest in improving the outcomes of farming succession. She’s not only professionally accomplished but also personally connected to the challenges families face in this area.

Session 3 | Financial Planning and Investment: Common questions and hot topics | John Ryan

While the foundation of a systematic financial plan and supporting investment framework don't really change, the questions clients ask do. John will provide commentary on questions he is seeing, as well as investment insights, that will assist your conversations with clients as their trusted adviser.

John Ryan | GAICD, CA
John is a Principal and Adviser at Capital Partners Private Wealth Advisers. His formal education is in economics and mathematics. John’s interest is in the economics of good decision-making.

Session 4 | Can Division 7A apply to partnerships with companies? | Daniel Taborsky

I am often asked the question: Can Division 7A apply to partnerships involving companies and, if so, how can the Division 7A risks be reduced? This session will explore this issue by revisiting the ATO’s now-withdrawn Division 7A FAQs and examining recent private rulings that suggest the ATO’s position may have changed.

Daniel Taborsky | LLB (Hons), MB, MPA, BSc, CTA
Dan is the Managing Director and Founder of Birchstone Legal Group. He is a tax specialist and has been recognised as a leading tax lawyer by Doyle's Guide since 2020. His unique way of thinking, combined with Dan’s obsession with mastering the tax law, allows him to find solutions where others can’t.
