Finding Your Moral Compass in a Changing World
Event description
“In the battle of our genes, our minds, our souls, which wins? Hate and love, good and evil, right and wrong. Let Tim Dean unlock the mystery of being human. There are some thinkers just made for our times: Dean is one of them.” - Stan Grant
Our sense of right and wrong informs everything that we do in our personal and professional lives, yet what we consider acceptable and unacceptable is evolving rapidly in the modern world.
Where we once had a shared moral foundation across society, we now live in an increasingly dynamic and fragmented moral landscape – both online and offline.
What might the moral landscape look like in a decade’s time, or in 2050? What do we consider acceptable today that we might see as wrong in a few decades time?
In order to understand the future of morality, Tim Dean suggests we look to the past and how we got to where we are today.
In this unique masterclass with philosopher and author Tim Dean, we will explore:
- How to understand human morality via our evolution as a social species
- How our evolved sense of right and wrong is playing out in the context of today’s biggest social, political and environmental challenges
- How this impacts our everyday lives with family, friends, work and service
- How we as a species could step forward with a new approach to morality
We look forward to welcoming you.
(This Masterclass was formerly called The Future of Morality Masterclass.)
