On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, the Strauss-Clements Intelligence Studies ProjectStrauss Center for International Security and Law, and the Clements Center for National Security will host a public talk, “The Future of Open-Source Intelligence – A Conversation with Randy Nixon, Director of CIA’s Open Source Enterprise.”

  • Registration is RECOMMENDED. Registrants will receive any updates regarding the event.
  • Lunch will be provided.
  • Garage parking is available for a fee at the Manor Garage and the San Jacinto Garage. Parking will not be validated.


BIOGRAPHY

Randy Nixon serves as Director of the Open Source Enterprise in CIA’s Directorate of Digital Innovation (DDI). Prior to this role, he led DDI’s Digital Futures team with the mission of finding private sector solutions to mission needs. Randy came to DDI after serving as Deputy and then Director of the Office of Advanced Analytics (OAA) within the Directorate of Analysis (DA). In OAA, Nixon worked alongside DDI components to advance and deliver capabilities in support of the Agency's information technology and analytic visualization mission needs. Prior to leading OAA, Nixon spent much of his CIA career in the DA, focused on working multiple wars and unstable regions. Nixon first joined the Agency in 1991 as a student intern, then served for five years active duty in the Army, mostly in the Balkans. Following active duty, Nixon rejoined the Agency in 1999. Nixon grew up in rural East Texas and completed his BA in International Relations at the University of Texas at Arlington.
