Marc Ablong is the Managing Partner of Geostrategic Risk Partners and brings more than 30 years of leadership experience in national security and strategic risk. He served as a Deputy Secretary in the Australian Department of Home Affairs and held senior executive roles in the Department of Defence. His experience spans national security policy, capability planning, intelligence, cyber security, resilience, emerging technologies and strategic reform. He is a graduate of the Joint Services Staff College, the Centre for Defence and Strategic Studies, and Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program. Marc was awarded the Public Service Medal in the 2018 Australia Day Honours.

The concept of a “polycrisis” describes how multiple global challenges such as geopolitical conflict, climate change, cyber threats and supply chain disruptions overlap and interact. These complex and connected risks cannot be managed effectively through traditional models that focus on single issues.
