The Future of Work, Money & the Economy - Imagined Locally with Community
Across our communities, people are working hard in very different circumstances, some juggling multiple jobs, caring responsibilities, and rising costs, others navigating positions of influence, investment, or leadership. Yet many of us share a quiet sense that the current economic system isn’t delivering the security, time, or wellbeing we were promised.
As part of Reclaim the Economy Week, WYN Hub is hosting an online conversation that invites people from all walks of life to step back and reflect on the bigger picture: how work, money, and the economy shape our lives and how they might evolve in the future.
This session isn’t about blaming individuals or pitting groups against each other. It’s about understanding the systems we’re all operating within, and how those systems influence why “doing everything right” still doesn’t always lead to stability or fulfilment. We'll hear from case studies who have attempted to interrogate these systems for themselves and apply to our own context of Wyndham.
Drawing on ideas from wellbeing, regenerative, and place-based economic thinking, the event will explore alternative ways of organising work and money that prioritise dignity, care, sustainability, and shared prosperity while acknowledging the real constraints people face today.
This is a space for listening, learning, and curiosity. You don’t need prior knowledge or a particular viewpoint. Just an openness to reflect on what’s working, what isn’t, and what kind of future we want to move toward together.
