This pre-launch event will feature spoken word performance, thought-provoking discussions, and a display of upcoming works that embody hope, the renewal of strength, and a call-to-action around “The Future We Want”, our online event focus for 2020. This event will be hosted online, Saturday, December 12th at 5PM AEST/ 6PM AEDT via the platform Hopin.

The online pre-launch will feature:

  • Spoken word performance video premiere by Councillor for Gabba Ward, Jonathan Sri
  • Panel discussion and Q&A: “The value of creative expression and the mobilising power of art”
    • MC: Indiana June - Artist, entrepreneur, director of Women in Technology passionate about climate action and gender equality.

By showcasing art that speaks to “The Future We Want”, we aim to demonstrate the ability of local community to organise, provide renewed hope, and most importantly, drive to take small, necessary steps towards a more sustainable future.

Then in June 2021 we will come together in person to celebrate the exhibition in full, with live performances including spoken word, song, and dance. We hope to see you online Saturday, December 12, and in-person for the full celebration next year!

As always, we respectfully acknowledge that this online event will be hosted by individuals on the land of the Turrbal and Yuggera peoples, as well as watched by others from across many Nations. The entire United Nations Young Professionals organisation pays our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging.
