Event description

Ashtar Theatre, situated in the West Bank of Palestine, launched The Gaza Monologues in 2010 to detail the reality of many living under illegal siege and violent operations. The monologues and their authors became recognised worldwide, the work  read in hundres of spaces - hospitals, coffee shops, streets, schools, prisons and universities. Ashtar's updated monologues connect the 2010 project to the current day. The result is a devastating, urgent and raw depiction of reality on the ground in Gaza.

From Ashtar: 'Each narrative is a testament to the resillience, pain, and complexity of human emotions in times of genocidal war by Israeli occupation. These voices reflect not only the struggle for survival but also profound moments of courage, love, and even joy that persist despite the loss of loved ones, homes, and the essence of what it means to feel human. They remind us that even in the darkest times, the human soul seeks light and meaning.'

The funds of this event (minus operating costs) will be split between the writers of the monologues, many of whom still in Gaza, and the Ashtar Theatre psycho support intervention. This intervention is a campaign utilising art and drama therapy (created in collaboration with psycholgists) in UNRWA approved schools throughout Palestine.
