Event description

Waiver clients are guaranteed choice in their lives…in theory. In most settings, they are offered choice on a very pedestrian and inconsequential manner. In the end, we don’t often give them the choice to also make poor decisions. This workshop, based on literature, looks at how we use choice to enhance the life of a client, both good and bad choices.

Please state objectives of the training below:

  • Understand what applied literature has to offer about choice.
  • Understand the concept of choice in am HCBS setting.
  • Understand the importance of choice within the context of dignity of life and the right to habilitation.
  • Determine how to best apply the concept of choice to your current clients to offer them better supports.
