The Gravedigger's Wife - An Australian Premier - 2PM Screening
Event description
An Evening of Art, Storytelling, and Impact: The Gravedigger’s Wife – Exclusive Screening & Fundraiser.
Step into the world of The Gravedigger's Wife, an extraordinary tale of love, sacrifice, and resilience set against the vivid, yet challenging Somali landscape. Follow the emotional journey of a gravedigger who goes to extraordinary lengths to secure a better future for his family in this award-winning film by director Khadar Ayderus Ahmed.
Join us for an exclusive screening of this powerful cinematic experience at The Backlot Perth on December 14, with two showings at 2 PM and 6 PM. This is not just a movie night—it's a chance to immerse yourself in a story that speaks to the heart whilst connecting with emerging diasporic artists who continue to share powerful stories from home.
Your ticket will support a cause that’s changing lives.
This screening is also a fundraising event for EQRA Centre for Training & Development in Somaliland, East Africa. EQRA is a vibrant, volunteer-run, self-funded hub that’s transforming lives through art, language, and creative expression. Since its opening in September 2021, EQRA has exceeded all expectations, evolving from a modest after-school program into a thriving community and art centre for youth.
By attending, you’ll directly contribute to EQRA’s continued growth, ensuring the centre can expand its offerings in art, storytelling, poetry, language, music, and dance.
We invite you to be a part of this incredible evening. Together, we can create lasting change—one story, one film, one community at a time.
