The Great Bat Count
Event description
Count the bats and help the Park! To manage one of the largest urban bat colonies in Sydney, our rangers have to know the size of flying-fox population and monitor population trends. That's why they need to count them. Get your family together and join our volunteers. You will be in groups headed by an expert volunteer who will show you how the bats are counted. An amazing hands-on experience.
What will you do:
- Hear fascinating facts and stories about one of the largest urban bat colonies
- Help to count the bats
- Enjoy a beautiful afternoon in the park
What to bring:Â
- Enclosed & comfortable shoes
- Warm clothing - it gets cold after dark!
- Torch (ideally red light)Â
- Camera (no flash)
- Waterproof clothing in case of wet conditions, the walks run rain or shine
- A sense of adventure
