The Great Unwaste Challenge: Are You Wasting More Than You Think?

ARE YOU WASTING MORE THAN YOU THINK?

Each day Aussie households waste over 7 million meals!

Without meaning to, we are wasting twice as much as we realise. To help you find ways to be more sustainable and reduce your food waste, The City of Armadale has proudly teamed up with The Great Unwaste to give you tips and tricks that will make you a food hero!

The challenge is to use our tips and tricks to reduce your waste, these will be posted on our engage page before the unwaste week commencing Monday 13 October 2025 - Sunday 19 October 2025, these resources can be accessed at your own pace. If you are a City of Armadale resident, we've got some goodies* for you to get you started on your unwaste journey! All you have to do is register to do the challenge by 3pm Friday 26 September 2025 and then collect your goodie bag from the Armadale library on Thursday 2 October 2025 between 3:00pm and 4:00pm.

You will need to register online and bring:

• Proof of residency (license, utility bill, etc.)

• Identification (full name)

Using the form provided, weigh your food waste daily before beginning the challenge, for one week from Monday 15 September 2025 - Sunday 21 September 2025. Repeat this for the unwaste week and see if there are any changes to your food waste. The spreadsheet to measure your waste can be downloaded on the engage page linked above.

Once you have recorded your weekly waste, please email your completed spreadsheet to info@armadale.wa.gov.au by 5pm Friday 24 October 2025 with the Subject line 'Attn Lauren: The Great Unwaste Challenge'.

Winner will be drawn on 31 October 2025 and notified via phone.
