Event description

At the turn of the 19th century, the guitar was undergoing a critical transformation: from its five-course baroque iteration to its six-string romantic form. These changes were accompanied by a process of transculturation, in which a fusion and cross-fertilisation of national styles brought about a brilliant new repertoire.

In this lunchtime concert, Josinaldo Costa presents a selection of representative music for the baroque and romantic guitars with a focus on Italian and Spanish guitarists.

Program:

Six-string romantic guitar (Lacôte - copy by Knud Sindt)

M. Giuliani - Grand Overture Op. 61

F. Moretti - Rondeaux Op. 4 n. 2 and 3

F. Sor - Grand Solo Op. 14

F. Sor - Variations "Les folies d'Espagne" Op.15a

Five-course baroque guitar (Iberian - copy by Marcos Kaiser Mori)

F. Corbetta - Suite in E Minor (Sarabande, Allemande, Courante, Passacaglia)

F. Corbetta - Variations on Folias de España

from Varii Capriccii per la Chitarra Spagnola (1643)
