The Healing Journey Within: A Visionary Art Experience
Event description
The Baltimore Psychedelic Society is thrilled to present an inspiring and collaborative community event. This event, taking place at the American Visionary Arts Museum in Baltimore, was conceived as a demonstration of the healing power of visionary art that derives from experiences of non-ordinary states of consciousness, however they have manifested. The artists chosen for this event, although very different in style, have the common experience of allowing their art and music to both create and reflect personal healing experiences. The Healing Journey Within reveals the many ways that emotional, physical, and mental healing can occur when an intelligent, loving presence greater than ourselves is allowed to enter our consciousness and inform our being.
We hope you decide to join us on April 21 for this rare and intimate showcase. The Healing Journey Within will also include:
Community Postcard Centerpiece: An installation that archives the many healing stories associated with psychedelic and non-ordinary state of consciousness experiences. These stories, submitted by many journeyers in the Baltimore area and beyond, give a glimpse into the beautiful, strange, challenging and revealing nature of these explorations into our deepest self and the gifts that are left in their wake.
Live Ambient Music:Â Including handpan playing and a sound journey
Community Art Area: An opportunity for young and old alike to help us create a work of art that will serve as a testament to our time together. Using markers and other mediums, our guests are encouraged to become their own artist and leave something of beauty behind.
Free admission to AVAM: 5:30-7:30 pm: This is an amazing opportunity to visit AVAM, after
you’ve taken in our show, and see the wonders from various visionary artists from across the
country.
Parking: Abundant metered parking, which is also handicapped accessible, is available on Covington Street and Key Highway. Please note that the meters are in effect 24 hours, 7 days a week. Paid parking is also available in the public lot at The Rusty Scupper Restaurant on Key Highway.
