Event description

LIVE WORKSHOP|Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback
(HRV-B)

With more than 10 years of experience in the use of the Heart Rate Variability (HRV) in clinical practice our hands-on training combines the latest science of heart intelligence with practical tools for self-regulation.

This workshop is based on the polyvagal theory developed by Prof Stephen Porges. It supports practitioners in better understanding the nature of stress, trauma and PTSD and how extreme stress can lead to complex and long-lasting consequences to emotional and physical health. Also, HRV can provide personal feedback about your lifestyle and help motivate those who are considering taking steps toward a healthier life. Numerous independent, peer-reviewed studies have shown statistically significant and sustained improvements such as reduced stress, improved employee health, lowered health-care cost, increased productivity and resilience for those who have incorporated the HRV techniques in their everyday life.

For those who love to compare data, this can be a nice way to track how the nervous system is reacting not only to the environment, but also to the emotions, thoughts, and feelings.

  • Understanding polyvagal theory and the role of the ‘smart heart’;
  • The role of Heart Rate Variability (HRV) and coherence training on the Autonomic Nervous System;
  • HRV in work with clients – case example;
  • Using and integrating HRV in your practice;
  • Assessment and treatment – practical experience.

The course is suitable for all clinicians interested in the mind-body interface. Students and researchers in the field of Psychology and Psychiatry or a related field are welcome.
