Event description

Feeling the need for support as a stay-at-home parent? Want to connect with others from the community?

Join us for a cuppa and a chat in the beautiful serene Community Centre in Norton Summit. You’ll connect together with other families in the community and then take 2 hours to yourself while your children are looked after and entertained by dedicated carers. You may have a business or craft project to work on or take the time to read a book uninterrupted. We create the space for you to connect, get some work done and still be near your children.

  • For Ages 1+. Babes in arms welcome but must stay with parents
  • Please bring a morning snack/piece of fruit for your child. Coffee and tea is provided
  • Please leave toys at home unless it is a comfort item for your child. Activities for children are provided
  • Additional children and guardian support are welcome

This session is a pilot with more dates in 2025 during school term to come. Make sure to stay up to date with our Facebook page.

ABOUT US

We are given two options as parents with young children in our culture. Put them into daycare and miss them while they miss us. Or stay at home with them full time and go slightly more insane every day. Neither of these options are sustainable. What if there were another option? A place where we could get some work done and be near our kids if they need us. We can share meals, breastfeed as needed, play with them, be close if we want, whilst also having the ability to get some work done, do a creative project or just have some much needed downtime. Opportunities to parent in community, meal prep or cry on a shoulder with other like-minded parents. Enter, The Village Project. We aim to provide a middle-ground. A place where you can be with your children, and also fill your cup in the ways you need. Build community connections, and recreate the “Village” we all crave.

We are living in a time where we are more globally connected than ever, and yet there is a loneliness epidemic across every generation. The Village Project aims to bridge this gap and reconnect people with face-to-face collaboration, meeting the needs for social connection, purpose, friendship, learning and community connection.
