    Event description

Adapt to thrive in a climate changed world!

This is an interactive role-playing game, played in small teams. The Heat Is On will take you forward in time to 2050, to a climate 1.5 degrees warmer than pre-industrial temperatures. Your team play the role of a local council in an island called Adaptania. To protect your town and the surrounding area from climate impacts including floods, bushfires, and heatwaves, you must make decisions about how to adapt. The game helps you to learn about climate change and adaptation. It enables you to envision climate changed futures in which communities can thrive, and to learn how to make collective decisions to prepare for diverse and overlapping climate impacts. The game was co-designed by climate scientists, game researchers and young people in 2023.

Venue is Room 140A, Centenary Building on Sandy Bay campus, directions to the venue.

Proudly supported by City of Hobart.
