Every archaeological object tells a human story, yet many of the women connected to these artefacts remain largely invisible in the historical record.

Join Memories in Time and Christchurch Archaeology Project for a free, hands-on workshop where you'll learn practical family history research skills and use them to investigate the lives of women connected to archaeological sites and artefacts from the Museum of Archaeology Ōtautahi’s collections.

Working with historical records including electoral rolls, newspapers, directories and other sources, you'll uncover the stories of women who lived, worked and raised families in 19th-century Christchurch.

No previous family history experience is needed. Whether you're new to research or have years of experience, you'll learn practical techniques while contributing to a deeper understanding of our city's past.

Places are limited, so bookings are essential.
