The Inaugural Randy Rayburn Friendsgiving Feast
Event description
The Metro Human Relations Commission (MHRC) is excited to launch an ambitious initiative: Humans Over Hate is designed to confront the rise of hate related acts in our community and to foster greater tolerance between disparate groups of people. This
initiative will have several components meant to educate the community and to mitigate the occurrences of hate related incidents in our city. The overwhelming number of hate related incidents that occur everyday do not rise to the level of criminality, but they are, nonetheless, personally painful, socially divisive, and can lead to hate crimes.
We are extremely grateful for the family of beloved restaurateur, Randy Rayburn, for allowing us to honor him with this event. In celebration of Randy Rayburn’s hospitable and welcoming legacy, we are planning a truly revelatory and delectable event to be held on November 21st at the Farmer's Market from 6-8 pm. Randy’s enduring hospitality left little space for hate, an example we all need to be reminded of during these complicated and trying times.
This event is free to attend and will include multiple food vendors; each serving a Thanksgiving themed item. While you’re enjoying the food and festivities, various speakers will tell you more about our anti-hate initiative Humans Over Hate.
