The International Storytellers Film Series presents: "Life, Animated"
Event description
In honour of International Autism Pride Day, join us for a powerful and deeply moving screening of Life, Animated, an award-winning documentary that explores the incredible story of how storytelling can open up new worlds.
Based on the bestselling memoir by journalist Ron Suskind, Life, Animated follows the journey of his son, Owen, a young man with autism who learned to communicate through the world of Disney animated films. This uplifting documentary blends live-action footage, home movies, and beautifully rendered animation to explore the strength of family, identity, and connection through the power of stories.
Why We're Screening It:
In recognition of International Autism Pride Day, we’re sharing Life, Animated as a way to celebrate neurodiverse voices and expand understanding through storytelling.
This film offers a rare and tender look into the lived experience of autism, reminding us of the power of communication, connection, and creativity — even when traditional words fall short.
By bringing this story to our community, we hope to foster greater empathy, celebrate different ways of seeing the world, and remind each other that everyone deserves to be heard, understood, and valued.
