How do we demonstrate the true value of our sector and make the case for change?

Reports like the 2026 JBWere and University of Waikato report provide a powerful picture of the contribution New Zealand’s for-purpose sector makes to our economy and communities.

The JB Were report finds that the sector contributes $25.8 billion annually, equivalent to 5.7% of GDP, and is supported by 231,000 paid employees and 930,000 volunteers.

At the same time, many frontline organisations are navigating shrinking donor bases, increasing costs and increasingly fragile financial margins.

Join Louisa Joblin (MoranLaw), Eleanor Cater (Community Foundations of New Zealand) and report co-author Dr William McInerney for a kōrero about the data, the stories behind the numbers, and what they tell us about the future of funding and support for our sector.
