The Jewish Studio Process - BAY AREA

Join us for The Jewish Studio Process, an immersive gathering where creative process offers new paths of discovery, expression, and connection. During this session you will learn about and experience the Jewish Studio Process—a unique methodology that builds creative capacity by combining art therapy practices with a reimagined approach to Jewish learning.

Each month we will delve into a different theme while weaving together art-making and intentional reflection to nurture our creative spirits! Whether you’re exploring your creativity for the first time and seeking a supportive environment or looking re-invigorate your creative life, The Jewish Studio Process will meet you where you are and invite you deeper. Come as you are—leave inspired and ready to embrace the journey ahead.

Monthly Themes:

• JUNE & JULY: Studio Summer Break

• AUGUST 12: Elul Edition: Elul invites us into a season of return, when we pause to reflect, to listen deeply, and to prepare our hearts for the year ahead. Through creativity, we explore what it means to come home to ourselves, to reconnect with what matters most, and to gently uncover the inner wisdom calling us toward renewal.

• SEPTEMBER 9: High Holidays Edition: The High Holidays call us to the threshold of transformation. Between memory and possibility, we slow down to listen, reflect, and imagine new ways of being. Through creativity, we make space for honesty, forgiveness, and hope, allowing what emerges to shape the year ahead.

• OCTOBER 21: Creation Edition: The story of Bereishit calls us to the beginning. As creation unfolds from emptiness into possibility, we are invited to consider what we are bringing into being in our own lives. Through creativity, we explore beginnings, wonder, and the possibilities that emerge when we make space for something new.

• NOVEMBER 18: Gratitude Edition: Gratitude invites us to pause and notice what is already here. In a season of reflection and renewal, we turn our attention toward the people, experiences, and gifts that have shaped us. Through creativity, we cultivate appreciation, making space to honor what has sustained us and carry that gratitude into the year ahead.

  • Facilitated by Lee Bearson. Lee Bearson (he/him) is a JSP-trained facilitator who works as a web developer and graphic designer in Berkeley, California. An inveterate attendee at various classes and lectures, and a devoted student of Jewish texts, Lee continues to deepen his engagement with Jewish culture and tradition through his art and learning. Over the years, he’s created artwork inspired by the Jewish lifecycle and holidays.

A Note About Fees:
The participation fee for this series is sliding scale $9-$36. Our goal is to never turn anyone away for lack of funds so please choose the price from our sliding scale that best meets your needs. COVID Policy:
Masks are optional and extras will be available at the studio. If you are symptomatic or not feeling well, please stay home and we will see you next time.

A note about Studio accessibility:
There are three steps into the building and the bathroom is not ADA. During art-making time, we will hang up paper on the wall so those who want to can stand to make art; we will also set up places to sit during art-making time if that is more comfortable for you. In the studio, there is a couch for anyone to use at anytime.
