The Katie Knipp Big Band in Concert at Theater 5150
Event description
We’re delighted to welcome Katie Knipp back to Theater 5150 September 13, 2024! Katie’s a force of nature, a consummate musician: accomplished Blues and R&B songwriter, pianist, dobro/bottleneck slide, and harmonica player who possesses one of the most beautiful, emotive, and powerful voices we’ve ever heard. Although she’s received first ballot Grammy consideration in the contemporary blues category and her four most recent albums have all found their way into the Billboard blues top ten, I would not describe her as a blues artist, per se. Instead, she’s a multi-genre chanteuse who effortlessly slides from gorgeous Nina Simone-influenced ballads to gritty Mississippi delta blues, with numerous stops in between. Her new album, "Me," which debuted on the Billboard Chart at #5, is out and I think it's phenomenal, but don't take my word for it. Here’s what Blues superstar Walter Trout (John Lee Hooker, John Mayall, Big Mama Thornton, Canned Heat, etc) says about Katie’s new album: “I haven't been this moved by anything in a long time. It just knocked me out ... This is some of the most creative and beautiful song writing.” So, there you have it. We're certain to be treated to a memorable night from one of our all-time favorites!
