🕯️ What is The King's Poisoner: The Last Kingdom?

It’s a collaborative, card-based storytelling event where players build a dramatic tale of court intrigue, forbidden love, fierce loyalty, burning ambition, and deadly betrayal—inspired by the turbulent era of Viking invasions and fractured kingdoms in 9th century Britain. Together, you’ll shape the rise (or fall) of powerful characters vying for the throne where the fate of all kingdoms hangs on the last card played.

🃏 How does the game work?

The King's Poisoner blends blackjack-style competitive card play with collaborative storytelling to create dramatic tension and unexpected twists for an unforgettable story that will keep you guessing right to the very end. Over the course of three acts, you'll conspire with one another to protect or murder your king and, scene by scene, your court's fate will be revealed. The game is pick-up-and-play, with simple rules that you learn as you play.

👑 Is it competitive? Who “wins”?

Each hand of cards is competitive but everyone is trying to tell the best story together, through play. By the end of the game, one character will rule over all: the cards and the story will decide who, how and why. Prizes are awarded not for winning a hand, but for the players who:

No prep or experience needed. Costumes are welcome but not required (see Cosplay Guidelines). Just bring your imagination and be ready to connect with others and have a great time. We’ll explain everything when you arrive.
