The Leads - Album Launch
Event description
Protest song Trace introduced The Leads as a band to watch out for with the song rising to No.5 on the 4ZZZ Top 20, played on Sydney syndicated radio show Dirt Music, added to the playlist on Ipswich’s West Bremer Radio and featured in The Courier-Mail, Ipswich Tribune and Ipswich Today. The debut single for The Leads features GANGgajang guitarist Robbie James and didgeridoo by Dirri’Ya-Gamil Kapithun. Trace draws attention to the plight of the Jarjumbah Protection group, protesting against housing estates being built over the former Aboriginal Mission site at Deebing Creek in Ipswich and the connection to land that is a central part of indigenous culture. The Leads, featuring three members of Brisbane band The Leadfoot Fairies, Kellie Holmes, Brian Bennion and Grant Gunnourie along with solo artist James Grehan, have since focussed on writing and recording their debut album “Play Your Hand”, releasing the singles OD’d On UV and Play Your Hand along the way. The Leads launch the album in a special afternoon show at Can You Keep A Secret on October 19, also featuring solo sets from Leads members award-winning singer-songwriter James Grehan and former member of Brisbane folk legends Popproperly Grant Gunnourie.
