In this webinar, Steven Moe will be discussing the themes of our recently released paper, ‘The Leaky Bucket: Analysing the proposed changes for Donation Tax Credits’.

You can download the paper here: https://www.parryfield.com/charities-funding-and-donations/#papers

New Zealand’s Donation Tax Credit system is designed to encourage charitable giving, but many donors do not claim the one-third tax credit available to them. This means funding that could ultimately support charities is being lost – creating what we describe in the paper as a “leaky bucket”.

Proposed changes to the system would allow donors to transfer their Donation Tax Credit directly to the charity they supported. We think this is a positive step, but there is an opportunity to go further and create a simpler system that enables donors to make that choice at the time they donate.

Join us on Wednesday 21 October at 12.00pm as Steven discusses the proposed changes, how they could be improved, and the practical implications for charities and donors.

Support our proposals? Take action!

We are inviting those who support our proposed improvements to add their name to the submission Parry Field Lawyers will make on the changes to the Donation Tax Credit system.

You can support our submission by completing the form here.

Our hope is that the paper will contribute to discussion about how the Donation Tax Credit system could work more effectively and help more of the generosity of New Zealanders reach the charities they choose to support.
