The Legends of Quetzatcoatl
Event description
In a time before time, the world has been created and destroyed four times. Now, the gods must decide who will sacrifice themselves to bring light to a new era — the Fifth Sun. Narrated by a wise and mystical Jaguar, the play takes audiences on a journey through Aztec mythology, from the celestial debate among gods to the underworld of Mictlán, where Quetzalcóatl must retrieve the bones of humanity to give new life to the world. With the help of mythological beings, dancers, and divine forces, this bilingual play explores themes of sacrifice, resilience, and the cyclical nature of creation. Through colorful storytelling and engaging performance, “The Legends of Quetzatcoatl” reminds us that even in the darkest places, light can be born again.
